High Voltage: True Potential Of The Wii Will Be Shown Soon Enough

High Voltage seeks to continue pushing the Wii's abilities

Living up to hype is a daunting task. Typically a game can never live up to its hype no matter how good it is, simply because there are unrealistic expectations set. The Conduit had quite a bit of hype surrounding it before its release, from gamers who wanted a true FPS on the Wii, and solid online play to go along with it. If nothing else, we can all agree that The Conduit did a valiant job of attempting to surpass expectations. The folks over at High Voltage weren't satisfied to simply settle with the success they earned, however.

While recently blogging, chief creative officer of High Voltage Software, Eric Nofsinger said that High Voltage is looking to push the Wii even more than they did with The Conduit. Claiming that The Conduit was only the tip of the iceberg, Nofsinger mentioned that their next games will definitely show off what the Wii could do.

With its upcoming titles, High Voltage plans on pushing the envelope, as Nofsinger says, "...we said we pushed the Wii with The Conduit and showed its true potential... we were wrong, the true potential of the wii will be shown soon enough."

High Voltage has two projects planned, one of which is The Grinder, a game that promises intense action, similar to Left 4 Dead.  The game itself quite literally takes the Conduit one step further, as it will run off a modified and refined version of The Conduit's engine. Similar to The Conduit, The Grinder is also swinging for the fences and has a boatload of features planned, including online co-op with up to four players.  Controlling monster hunters, they clear the country of alien invaders in a grindhouse-y action adventure similar in appeal to House of the Dead: Overkill.

The other game High Voltage is creating for the Wii is Gladiator A.D., another movie-inspired game. This one draws from 300, and is set to be an ultra-violent fighting game. Players will play as various Roman gladiators, as they fight for the approval of the audience, and ultimately their lives.

Now that High Voltage has The Conduit under their belt, can they go any direction but up? Perhaps we may see some Wii MotionPlus inclusion in these titles?
