A Man and His Blob Creeps Me Out

Prototype robot mimics Wii remake

A Boy and His Blob (above), a cute NES re-imagining coming to the Wii October 13, is bringing a classic challenge and simplicity that few modern games have.  The young hero of the game feeds jelly beans to his alien/blob, transforming it into an assortment of objects that help guide them through hand-drawn environments.

The visual flare that A Boy and His Blob presents is capitalized by the interaction between the boy and, well, his blob.  The game's developer WayForward even took time to implement a hug button, which literally makes the two comrades hug it out in the midst of their journey:

The question arises, however, what happens when the boy grows up?

Inadvertently, German designer Stefan Ulrich glances into this future with Funktionide, a blob that changes shape with the use of artificial muscle technology.  Its creator hopes it will "relieve loneliness," something electroactive polymers (plastics that change shape when electrically stimulated) are known to do.

Prepare to be creeped out:

One thing is for sure, don't let Ulrich design game peripherals.

Epic Mickey Confirmed as Wii Exclusive

Upcoming Disney title confirmed for November 2010

Rumors started surfacing a while ago about an upcoming Disney project titled "Epic Mickey." Not only are the rumors true, but the game is a Wii exclusive.

Not much is known about the upcoming title. We do know that it will feature a paint brush-esque control mechanic, and a rather fitting "epic" graphical style. We've scoured the web for more information about the title, and dug up a few rumored concept art pieces that shows off the direction they want to go with their art department.

Disney recently acquired Wideload Games along with Bungie co-founder, Alex Seropian, who also sports the title of co-creator of Halo. With Epic Mickey coming, and the soon to be released Split Second for Xbox 360 and PS3, it appears as though Disney is quite serious about shaking up their development image.
